Co-op donates $84,000 for Lemberg playground
June 25, 2019

After five years and more than 100 projects, Co-op Community Spaces is continuing to invest in community projects across Western Canada – including new funding for the Lemberg and District Lions Club.

This year, Co-op is providing $84,000 to upgrade a playground and build a gazebo and benches. The new play structure and equipment will promote a healthy lifestyle while improving balance, muscle strength, endurance and motor skills.

“The Lemberg & District Lions Club was pleasantly surprised when we were notified of the approval of our grant application. We have been fundraising for several years, and we never imagined that we would be where we are now. The youth of the Town of Lemberg and district will benefit immensely from a new, all-inclusive children’s playground: it will provide room for many children and provide a gathering point for our residents,” said Carole Smulan, President of the Lemberg & District Lions Club.

Co-op Community Spaces has been developed to help protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada. In 2019, the program is providing $2 million to 26 community projects from Vancouver Island to Manitoba. Since 2015, Co-op has donated $8.5 million to 114 projects.

“Co-op Community Spaces aims to bring people together, creating places for everyone and building a lasting legacy that benefits our community into the future,” said Chris Paradis, General Manager of Prairie Co-op.

“We’re happy to be a contributing partner on projects like this. They reflect the spirit and dedication of the people within our community.”
