Coronavirus Update
March 25, 2020

//Updated Wednesday, April 8, 2020

At Prairie Co-op we realize that the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has everyone feeling uneasy, especially as we face more changes to our daily routines and future plans.

We know that your priority is to keep your families safe and ensuring that you have the essentials. Prairie Co-op is taking precautions to keep both our team members and our communities safe and healthy. Our stores are cleaned and sanitized daily as a normal course of business, but we have increased the frequency of the cleaning and sanitizing. We are also ensuring our team members have all the personal protective equipment that they require to feel safe.

Our food stores have been very busy since the beginning of the pandemic. Our food stores in Melville, Fort Qu’Appelle, Lemberg, Lipton and Kelliher are delivering groceries free of charge to anyone over age 65, immunocompromised, or self-isolating. Where previously we only had grocery delivery two days a week, we are doing deliveries six days a week now, and we have waived the delivery fee. With so many people returning home from vacations and needing to self-isolate, we understand that they will need to replenish their groceries. When an order is placed, we determine if a contactless transaction needs to occur, to help keep our team members safe. We are still allowing people to bring in their own bags, but we are asking people to pack their own groceries in their reusable bags. For those people who are using plastic bags from the store, we are waiving the 5-cent charge.

This is the perfect time to thank our team members for their efforts in these extraordinary times. They are working tirelessly to do whatever it takes to serve our members.

Please continue to be kind and think about each other during these difficult times. We will get through this together as a community.

Be advised that no admittance to any Prairie Co-op locations will be allowed to people under the following circumstances:

  • People who have traveled outside Canada, including to the U.S., within the last 14 days
  • You have come in contact with someone who has COVID-19
  • You have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing
